The Mona Shores Sailors climbed into third place on the second day of the MHSAA Division 1 golf state finals at The Meadows on the campus of Grand Valley State University.

Birmingham Brother Rice finished at 602, one shot ahead of first-day leader Battle Creek Lakeview. Mona Shores finished at 608.

Reed Hrynewich led the Sailors with a 74-76-150 and tied for seventh. Other Sailor golfers were Mitchell White (79-72-151), Andrew VanAelst (76-77-153), Joel Maire (73-81-167) and Glen Kastelic (81-86-167).

In Division 3, Ludington finished 14th behind champion Jackson Lumen Christi, which shot a two-day total of 596.

The Orioles golfers included Logan Leavitt (161), Boyd Meeker (163), Alex Timinski (164), Taylor Myer (168) and Race Andersen (175).

Derek Jacobson, from Whitehall, finished at 74-78-152 playing as an individual.

In Division 4, Western Michigan Christian started the day in 11th and stayed there when it was all over.

Juniors Alec Breit (79-81-160) and Henry McGannon (81-80-161) led the Warriors. Also, Devin Kohn finished at 84-94-178, John Larson had 109-105-214 and Erik Bean had 119-108-227.

Pentwater’s Sam Wagner, playing at state as an individual, shot 89-84-173.
