Area sports fans,
We know how much you love Muskegon area sports. And we loved bringing you the game stories, features, sports news, opinion columns and scores from throughout the community for many years. But something happened several months ago – a group of sportswriters that covered Muskegon area sports for more than 100 years combined was silenced. But not for long … we’re back and ready to do it all over again.
This time right here at localsportsjournal.com
Sportswriters Tom Kendra, Mike Mattson, Ron Rop, Mark Lewis, Dave Tomczak and many others will start providing you with the kind of local sports coverage you’re accustomed to reading. We’ve also added Jim Moyes, who will bring his expertise in writing stories about the “good old days” of Muskegon-area sports.
It starts today with coverage of Saturday night’s Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame inductees and a preview of the weeklong Muskegon Lumberjacks’ training camp.
Throughout the coming weeks, you will get a taste of what we have to offer.
We can’t get into too many specifics right now (we have competitors we have to consider), but you will be reading about the Lumberjacks’ training camp this coming week as well as stories from next Saturday’s prep all-star football game at Mona Shores High School. We may even throw in a few historical “throwback” stories that just might bring back memories of past teams, games and athletes.
We also have a couple sports related news stories that we guarantee you will read here first.
We have a lot of exciting stories on our budget, but we want your input to keep this endeavor moving forward. What would you like to read about? Anything you’ve been missing of late you’d like to see?
Let us know.
We’re also looking for feedback on the function of our website. We know we are opening ourselves up for some possible heat, but improvement can’t happen without you. If something isn’t functioning properly, let us know. Maybe you have an idea that will make our site more efficient. We want your input to make us better at giving you what you want.
There is one request from the LSJ staff and that is be patient as the site begins to grow. Localsportjournal.com is stepping on the stage early. But only because we want everything running smoothly by Fall.
We guarantee you will not find a better website providing coverage of Muskegon area sports anywhere.
Thanks for your support,
Local Sports Journal staff
