The Orchard View Cardinals ran over Muskegon 7-0 in nonleague boys soccer action on Thursday.

The Cardinals received first-half goals from Jimmy Hendricks, Brandon Rowell, Jeff Dixon and Jordan Wade.

Three goals after halftime were scored by Rowell, Carlos Nunez and Wade. Brandon Edwards chipped in with two assists for the Cardinals (2-1).

The Rams scored on a diving header from 15 yards out with 8 minutes remaining to account for the lone goal of the contest.

“We know that his game and experience will make us better,” Fruitport coach Greg Kobylak said. “The Trojans executed our game plan and left every ounce of effort on the field – we just came up a little short.”

Kobylak lauded the efforts of goalkeeper Loghan Stong, who made 10 saves, along with Matt Escalante, Andrew Frost, Cody Pekel and Ryan Mason.

Rockford improved to 4-0-1 and Fruitport is now 3-1-1.
