BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
GRAND HAVEN

Coach: John Tarr.
Last year: 6-1, second place in OK Red and 12th place at Division 1 state finals..

The Bucs lost five of their top seven runners from last season, but return three talented runners and five sophomores who lettered last season. Senior Justin Pippel will lead the Bucs this season as he is an all conference and all regional runner and was a state finals qualifier. Other returning runners will be Will Swain, Turner Sale and Joe Sherman. Other runners expected to contribute are senior Sam Schurkamp, juniors Kyle Funk, Gerritt Knopt and Harrison Lange and sophomores Nick Johnson and Camden Bertucci.

Although Grand Haven has lost five of its top seven runners, they will be formidable in the OK Red. Rockford will be the favorite to win the Red, Grandville is very tough and Hudsonville is immensely improved, so the conference will be very tough this year. But, Tarr has no doubt that his boys will compete with the top runners in the area.

“I’ve been amazed at the miles our guys have put in over the summer as well as the camaraderie they have developed in that time.” Tarr said. “There’s no doubt that we can compete with any team in the area. Pippel and Swain look exceptionally strong right now and Sale will be right there with the other top runners. They are coming in ready to compete and challenge for another run at the state meet. We have a great deal of senior and junior leadership and a lot of maturity that will lead to our success this year.”
