Coach: Ed Bailey
There’s a new coach leading the Warriors this year in veteran Ed Bailey.
But the Warriors also have some veterans on their roster, led by 6-foot-1 senior Rachel Bruinsma and 6-foot-1 senior Vanessa Eekhoff. Bruinsma, a third-team all-state performer last year, plans to play collegiately at Valparaiso University next year.
Add in experience setter Julie Merz and the Warriors have a solid nucleus.
All three players were first-team all-conference last season.
If the Warriors weren’t tall enough, they also have added 6-foot-3 Maria Ma, who moved to WMC from China, but had to sit out her sophomore season due to transfer rules.
Bailey said Bruinsma, Eekhoff and Merz are all much improved from last year.
“If we stay healthy and our juniors continue to improve we should be in contention for conference title and maybe more,” Coach Bailey said.
