Reed Hrynewich made a surge toward the top of the leaderboard at the 28th annual Randy Wise Junior Golf Tournament on Wednesday.

Hrynewich followed up his first-round score of 77 with a 1-under-par 71 in Wednesday’s second round and moved into third place in the American Junior Golf Association Tournament. Hrynewich started the day in 25th place.

Ryan Jahn, from Jupiter, Fla, shot rounds of 73 and 72 for a two-round total of 145.

Andrew VanAelst duplicated his first-round score of 75 and is tied for 10th place heading into Thursday’s final round.

On the girls side, Hailey Hrynewich shot a 77 in the second round for a two-day total of 156. She is in 13th place.

North Muskegon’s Aya Johnson trimmed seven shots off her first-round score. She shot a 75 on Wednesday and moved up from 21st to 14th place.

Morgan Smith has a two-day total of 161 and is tied for 18th. She shot an 80 on Wednesday.

Jillian Hollis, from Rocky River, Ohio, is the leader for the girls at 147.

A total of 96 players – 72 boys and 24 girls – are entered in the tournament.
