Spring Lake volleyball team again looks to be in the thick of the Lakes 8 race

The Lakers finished third a year ago in the Lakes 8 race and Coach Bulthuis is looking for this year’s team to improve on that.

Key returnees include junior Lydia Suchecki, an outside hitter who had 242 kills and 64 blocks last season, senior setter Emily Blahnik and senior libero Brooke TenBrink.

Newcomers who are expected to contribute heavily to the team’s fortunes include sophomore outside hitter Kelsee Zuidema, junior middle hitter Courtney Kyser and junior opposite hitter Breanna Williams. Another returning letterwinner is senior middle hitter Erin Vargo.

“We have many new players on the court this season,” Bulthuis said. “But hope to quickly find the chemistry needed to be successful.”
