The Muskegon Community College women’s soccer team netted three second-half goals in a 3-0 victory over Kellogg Community College on Sunday.

All three goals came in the first 20 minutes of the final half.

Ashlee Taylor opened the scoring with a low shot that beat the Kellogg goalkeeper at the far post. Muskegon CC went up 2-0 on a goal by Savannah Swanson off a penalty kick.

The Jayhawks added an insurance goal from Linsye Haan with an assist from Rhonda Smith.

Emily Manchester and Ashley Groendal combined on the shutout in the Jayhawk net.

“The Lady Jayhawks played with patience and smarts in the second half, not forcing play and letting the ball do the work,” coach Josh Watson said. “Linsye Haan had a good game today playing up top at forward. She created a lot of opportunities for herself and teammates. MCC center backs Alyssa Panozzo and Nikole Heinig did a great job today of controlling the game and distributing the ball where needed.”
