Orchard View survived a Lakes 8 showdown with a 2-1 victory over the Fruitport Tr0jans on Tuesday.
The Cardinals received a first-half goal off a corner kick from John Leonard. Brandon Edwards drew the assist.
In the second half, Brandon Rowell’s cross found Carlos Nunez, who gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.
Fruitport got on the board with less than 4 minutes remaining on a goal by Dalton Mullennix.
“We had a lot of pressure up front today,” Cardinal coach Kyle Skodack said. “Our chances were plentiful. Fruitport has a strong keeper in Loghan (Strong), who made some great diving saves today.”
Stong finished with 10 saves in the Trojan net. Dylan Tyler had no saves for OV.
“It was  very physical game all around, well played match by both teams who never gave up on any balls played,” Skodack said. “Our defense came up very big today. They moved the ball around well and allowing one shot on goal. Unfortunately, it went in, but Fruitport worked the ball up great and finished it very well for a nice score.”
Orchard View improved to 9-2, 4-1 while Fruitport dropped to 8-4-2, 4-1.
