Former Western Michigan Christian teacher and varsity boys basketball coach Jim Goorman will be honored at a reception Friday night.

Goorman, whose contract was not renewed by WMC last spring, spent 44 years teaching and coaching at the school.

A group of friends have tabbed the evening “Celebrating 44 years of Impacting Lives.” The reception will be 4-9 p.m. at the Century Club, 356 W. Western Ave. in downtown Muskegon.

“There is no way to measure the impact that Jim has made and the lives he has touched throughout his years of service,” said Mary Sytsema on a Facebook Page announcing the event. “You will have the chance to say thank you to Jim and Sue, as well as greet their children and grandchildren.”

Cake, punch and coffee will be served.
