Grant pulls away from Orchard View in second half

Grant outscored Orchard View 17-0 in the second half to earn a 31-6 Lakes 8 Conference win at home on Friday.

The Tigers took a 14-0 first-half lead after a 3-yard Kyle Russell run and a 53-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Bomay to Brandon Bouwkamp.

Orchard View’s Justin Hunter-Smith scored from 66 yards out to cut Grant’s lead to 14-6 at halftime.

Andrew Dent knocked in a 25-yard field goal for the only score of the third quarter and Grant had a 17-6 lead.

But the Tigers put the game away in the fourth, as Jimmy Fillmore (3 yards) and Riley Foster (10) scored on TD runs.

Bouwkamp led Grant with 160 yards rushing on 19 carries and Fillmore finished with three carries for 15. Justin Crawford led the defense with seven tackles and Dent and Cody Atwood finished with four apiece.

The Cardinals’ Hunter-Smith had 152 yards rushing on 19 carries and Corey Pierce finished with two receptions for 28 yards.
