Host Montague needed a big fourth quarter to overcome Fremont 35-16 on Friday night.

The Wildcats trailed 16-13  in the fourth quarter before unleashing a 22-point scoring barrage.

Keenon Aylor started the fourth-quarter scoring for Montague by catching a 23-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Buchberger.

Chris Carroll gave Montague a 22-16 lead by causing a safety by Fremont.

Buchberger broke a 45-yard touchdown run and Carroll finished the Wildcat scoring on a 23-yard touchdown run.

Montague led 7-6 at halftime and was tied 13-13 heading into the fourth.

Zarren Aylor led Montague with 136 yards rushing on 14 attempts. That included a 35-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Buchberger finished with 66 yards on four carries.

Quarterback Carroll was 6-of-12 passing for 73 yards.

Alex VanVleet led Wildcat receivers with two catches for 50 yards catching a 38-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. Keenon Aylor had three catches for 35 yards.

On defense, Montague’s Jacob Marsh had 21 tackles and Ben Rupert had 11. Wyatt Ford and Sawyer Smith each had 10 tackles and Billy Welch had eight.

Scoring for Fremont came from Jared Meeuwenberg on a defensive touchdown. Jared Smith had a 45-yard touchdown run.

Grant Clark kicked a 32-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to round out the Fremont scoring.
