The Muskegon Community College women’s soccer team needed just one goal to advance to the Region XII final game.

That’s because the Jayhawks dominated the middle of the field in a 1-0 victory over No. 1-seeded Owens Community College.

That goal came from Karlee Schreur with 51 seconds left in the second half.

“The game went back and forth,” MCC coach Josh Watson said. “Most of the game was played in the middle of the field. Anna Carmean, Savannah Swanson, Autumn Brodeur and Tehran Peffley-Rout played outstanding in the midfield.

“They worked extremely hard for their team in the midfield,” Watson said.

Emily Manchester posted the shutout in net with four saves.

Muskegon CC, the fourth seed, will take on Delta College in Sunday’s regional final at Jackson Community College. Gametime is noon.
