The Muskegon Community College women’s soccer team scored three goals in the opening half en route to a 3-1 victory over Delta Community College.

Anna Carmean scored the game’s first goal with an assist credited to Linsye Haan.

MCC went up 2-0 on a header goal by Karlee Schreur. That goal was assisted by Ashlee Taylor.

Elissa Alvarado capped the Jayhawks’ scoring with a goal assisted by Haan.

Key saves were made in goal by Emily Manchester.

“Nikole Heinig played well today at center back,” Jayhawk coach Josh Watson said. ” She made a few goal line saves to clear the ball to safety. ”

Delta scored its goal off of a direct kick on top of the 18- yard box with 1 second left in the game.

“The MCC ladies are starting to play the way that I hoped they would at this point of the season,” Watson said.  “We are starting to understand what it takes to be successful and play as a team.”
