The host Mona Shores Sailors secured exclusive claim Wednesday night to the OK Black Conference boys soccer title, downing Zeeland East 1-0.

But it wasn’t exactly easy.

The match progressed scoreless into an overtime period, where Shores’ Christian Zurchauer goaled the game winner off a cross from teammate Grant Forterbaucher.

Sailor goalkeeper Joey Wolffis nabbed his 13th shutout, a new school record, and has allowed just four goals in 17 games. The Sailors are now 15-1-1 overall and 9-0 in the conference.

One day earlier, Wolffis turned back five shots to first break the school shutout record, in a 3-0 victory over Kenowa Hill. The Sailors bombarded the Knight defense with 15 shots-on-goal, as Jake DeRemer, assisted by Jeremy Szost, and Jacob Carlson, assisted by Nate Hoover, recorded first-half goals, followed up a second half score by Nate Majeski, assisted by Carlson.
