The Muskegon Lumberjacks and local author Jay VandeVoorde are releasing a second children’s book next month.

Topsy-Turvy Travels with a Twisted Team will be released Nov. 17 when the Lumberjacks host the Youngstown Phantoms.

It’s VandeVoorde’s second children’s book in which he has teamed up with Muskegon Lumberjack players. Last year, they co-authored a book called The Life of a Hockey Puck.

The current book describes the team’s activities during a road trip to Dubuque, Iowa and Chicago, which occurred last season. Seven players from last year’s team helped write the book, including current Lumberjacks Carter Foguth and Joe Cox.

“I am excited about Book Two; the seven players that helped with it had great input and ideas for the book,” VandeVoorde said.  “The use of onomatopoeia words enhances the book making it fun to read for adults or children alike. It is fantastic to support literacy and the Muskegon Lumberjacks as well.”

The book took nine months to write and also includes five poetry winners from last spring. They will be introduced with their awards at the game against the Phantoms.
