Zeeland East stays unbeaten with 55-41 win over Mona Shores

Unbeaten Zeeland East relied on big plays and defeated Mona Shores 55-41 Friday night.

The loss likely ended the playoff hopes for the Sailors (4-4), who finish their season next week at Reeths-Puffer.

Spencer Viening rushed for five touchdowns and 155 yards, while Josh Blauwkamp added 287 yards and two scores for the Chix. East will host unbeaten Muskegon next week in a showdown for the OK Black Conference championship.

Shores, like many teams this season, had trouble slowing down the potent East offense. But the Sailors also unleashed a lethal no-huddle spread veer attack, too.

Chris Bradford totaled 143 yards rushing and four TDs, while quarterback Tyree Jackson completed 19-of-31 passes for 180 yards and a score to pace the Sailors. Asantay Brown caught 11 passes for 129 yards and a score.

East led 28-20 at halftime and 42-27 after three quarters.
