The Muskegon Community College Jayhawk men’s basketball team split a pair of home games this weekend. The Jayhawks defeated Alpena on Friday, but suffered a 20-point setback to Oakland Community College on Saturday.

Muskegon CC 69, Alpena 55: Three MCC players reached double figures, including Jalin Gross with 18 points, TJ Grant with 15 points and DeVaughn Cole-Rodney with 11 points.

Solid defense throughout the game was a major key for MCC, which produced 20 steals and forced 29 turnovers.

Asa Wyers had a game-high 11 rebounds.

Oakland CC 83, Muskegon CC 63: Gross led the Jayhawks in scoring once again with 19 points. He was the lone scorer to reach double figures. Jake Anderson came off the bench and pulled down nine rebounds and blocked three shots. Kenya Oas, also off the bench, had eight points, three steals and two assists.

MCC is now 4-2 and returns to action Tuesday in Grand Rapids against Aquinas College.
