Muskegon Lumberjack defenseman Mike Brodzinski’s efforts from last week caught the attention of the United States Hockey League.

The Blaine, Minn. native had six points in his last two games, including one goal and three assists in Friday’s 4-3 come-from-behind victory at Indiana. For his efforts, Brodzinski was named the USHL defenseman of the week.

He is a University of Minnesota commit.

“I feel really good about getting this award and I believe I took the most advantage out of the opportunities that were given to me,” said Brodzinski.  “It’s always nice to win such an award when there are other defensemen in the USHL that are also deserving of winning this honor.”

In 16 games this season, Brodzinski has five goals and five assists for 10 points and a plus-7 rating. His five goals are currently the most among USHL defensemen.
The Lumberjacks will hit the road for a Wednesday night game in Dubuque against the Fighting Saints at 8:35 pm.  The next home contests will be on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:15 p.m. against the Green Bay Gamblers.
