Rookie kicker John Potter, from Grand Haven, has been released by the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills.

Potter, a seventh-round draft pick, had not played the last two games for the Bills as the kickoff specialist.

Those duties have been handled by veteran Rian Lindell.

Potter, who was drafted out of Western Michigan University, hadn’t been producing the touchbacks on kickoffs, especially recently, according to a report in The Washington Post.

Of his 26 kickoffs, he had 13 touchbacks, four in his final three games.
