The North Muskegon girls cross country team, behind a pair of all-state runners, placed sixth at the Division 4 state finals race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday.

The Norsemen finished in sixth place with 206 points and Hesperia placed 11th with 315 points.

Homer won the team championship with 118 points.

Any runner placing in the top-30 earned all-state honors. North Muskegon’s Avery Lowe and Emily Witham both earned those honors.

Lowe placed 14th in a time of 19:48 and Witham finiahed 20th overall at 20:00.

Hannah Meier (55th), Abby Vermeulen (95th) and Tess Wilson (125th) rounded out the team scores for North Muskegon.

Hesperia was led by Emily Gowin (21:06), who placed 75th.

Jasmine Hall (76th), Hannah Sperry (89th), Lauren Zeerip (113th) and Brooke Schooley (124th) completed the team scores for Hesperia.

Breckenridge’s Kirsten Olling (17:59) was the overall winner of the race.
