Missed free throws doomed Fremont in the final quarter as they lost to host Mona Shores 65-61 on Tuesday night in a nonconference game.

The Sailors took a 41-35 lead into the final quarter and benefited from Fremont missing 11 free throws in the final quarter.

The Packers were 12-for-28 from the foul line for the game.

Jamarius Williams led the Sailors with 15 points, Adam Rayner scored 13 and Kobe Burse scored 10.

“Mona Shores came out very aggressive and attacked both the pain and the offensive glass at will,” Fremont coach Pete Zerfas said. “They had 14 offensive rebounds at half and 24 for the game.”

Mike Siegel led the Packers with 27 points, six steals and five rebounds.  Dylan Krim added 18 points and six rebounds.

Jacob Kaastra scored 10 points for Fremont and Blake Siersema added 10 rebounds.

“We battled back and got the game within 3 points with under a minute to go, but could not get it any closer,” Zerfas said. ” We missed 11 free throws in the fourth quarter alone including the front end of 3 one and ones which is the story of the game for us. ”
