Austin Johnson, Spring Lake boys take down Fruitport in Lakes 8 basketball

Spring Lake defense proved to be too much in its 45-28 win over Lakes 8 rival Fruitport.

The Lakers built a 22-13 lead at halftime and scored 15 points in the third to take a 37-20 heading into the fourth.

Austin Johnson led Spring Lake with 18 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Adam Clauss scored eight points and had three assists and three steals while Erik Johnson had seven rebounds and J.P. Batts chipped in six points.

Fruitport was led by Amilio Flores with 10 points and Aaron Veihl scored nine.
