Mason County Central held off a late Montague rally to earn a 49-45 WMC in on Tuesday night.

MCC led 40-27 entering the final before Montague went on an 18-9 win to close out the game.

“We had a chance to tie it up with about 24 seconds left, but were unable to convert,” Montague coach Bill Stone said. “We had the ball and brought it across midcourt, set it up and passed in for the shot. We were actually able to get two attempts, but failed on both.”

Madison Geers led the Spartans with 26 points and 17 rebounds and Payton Bladzik added 12 points.

Elyse Taylor led the Wilcats with 15 points and 12 rebounds, Nicole Rumsey scored 10 points and Morgan Shugars had six steals.
