On Thursday, the Fruitport Calvary Christian girls basketball team suffered its first loss.

On Saturday, the Eagles stopped West Michigan Lutheran’s long league winning streak with a 58-46 victory.

“Lutheran had never lost a girls basketball game in the Alliance League,” Calvary coach Brad Richards said. “It was 51 straight. they’ve also won three straight district championships and were undefeated in the league coming in. Their lone loss was to Class A Grand Rapids Creston.”

Taylor Richards led FCC with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Hayley Mohr added 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Brianna Zehr also had six assists and Shymari Harris had three steals.

“I was very proud of the girls for the way they responded 40 hours after the Catholic game,” said Richards, whose team lost to Muskegon Catholic on Thursday.
