The Grand Haven Buccaneers had a rocky start to their Division 2 quarterfinal hockey game on Tuesday night.

The Bucs fell behind 3-1 after one period and dropped a 4-1 decision to Saginaw Heritage in a game played at Ferris State University in Big Rapids.

Asa Pellegrom scored the Grand Haven goal in the opening period with assistance from Patrick Ferris. Heritage outshot Grand Haven 10-6 in the opening period.

From that point, the game was played evenly, but Grand Haven was unable to cut into the deficit. The Bucs had a 12-6 shot advantage in the second period, but it was Saginaw Heritage that scored the only goal of the period.

For the game, Heritage had a 25-22 advantage in shots on goal.

Saginaw Heritage moves into the state semifinals with a 24-5 record while Grand Haven finished 16-9-3.
