Hunter Niederer picked up his first varsity pitching victory on Wednesday in Newaygo’s 4-3 victory over Tri-County.

Niederer allowed seven hits and struck out eight in 6 2/3 innings of work. He also helped his own cause with a double that scored Robby Mendham with the winning run in the sixth inning.

Niederer allowed two runs in the first inning then settled in and turned in a strong performance.

Andrew Middleton’s single in the third inning scored Brandon Foster. Jake Warren had a single that drove in Middleton and Matt Milbourne.

Newaygo is 3-2 overall, 2-0 in the league.
