Hesperia split its Friday doubleheader with Morley Stanwood winning the nightcap 7-6 on a two-run seventh inning. The Panthers dropped the opener 10-0.

Mikaila Workman hit a walk-off single single that drove in Jessi Purdy for the Game-2 win. Workman’s single came with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.

Deborah Santiago tied the contest 6-6 earlier in the seventh with a RBI double that drove in Holly Whelan. Katie Annis started the seventh-inning rally with a one-out single. Whelan entered the game as a pinch runner for Annis.

Santiago and Workman both finished with two hits and a RBI for Hesperia.

Hesperia trailed 6-1 entering the bottom of the fourth and rallied four runs. Paiton Beekman highlighted the inning with a RBI triple.

Winning pitcher Meradith Schmitz struck out four and gave up nine hits, a walk, and one earned run.

Alexis Castillo and Rachel Farber led Hesperia in Game 1 with two hits each.
