The Muskegon Community College Jayhawk softball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Lansing Community College in Wednesday’s regional opener. The game was played in Battle Creek.

That means the Jayhawks will return to action at noon Thursday against the Grand Rapids CC-Owens CC loser. MCC came into the tournament as the No. 5 seed. Lansing was No. 4.

Deanna Stickler-Gatson belted a two-run homer in the seventh inning to account for both MCC runs. Sydney Tharp had two hits for the Jayhawks, which finished the game with eight hits. Brooke Agers added a double.

MCC pitcher Taylor Lemke pitched six innings and allowed three runs, two earned, and five hits.She struck out four.

MCC is now 23-23.
