Two defensemen drafted by the Muskegon Lumberjacks have been signed by Division I schools.

Connor Frantti has selected to play for Northern Michigan University in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Heading east is Cameron Lee who will be playing for Providence College in Rhode Island.

“After my visit (to Providence), I felt like it was the best fit for me not just as a hockey player, but as a student-athlete overall,” said Lee who is on the Lumberjacks’ affiliate roster. Lee should see some playing time this season but will be heading back to complete his junior year at Northwood School in Lake Placid, N.Y.

“I enjoyed the overall vibe of the community, and the coaching staff made me feel right at home,” said Lee in a Lumberjacks press release.

Northern-bound Frantti is on Muskegon’s active roster and had a similar experience when he visited NMU.

“The campus was beautiful, and the coaching staff treated me very well during my visit there,” said Frantti. “Northern Michigan is a perfect fit for me both athletically and academically, and I am excited for my future in the next couple of years both with the Lumberjacks and Wildcats.”

Frantti was selected by the Jacks in the 16th round and 233rd overall in the 2013 USHL Phase Two Draft and is from Spring Grove, Ill.

Lee comes to Muskegon from Ferguson’s Cove, Nova Scotia and was selected 53rd overall in the fourth round of the USHL Phase One Draft.
