Mona Shores’ OK Conference win streak has come to an end after a 4-3 overtime loss to Grand Rapids Union. The run dated back to the 2011 season.

The Sailors (7-3-1, 3-1-1) dug themselves into a hole early with a 2-0 halftime deficit but were able to see light off the play off Nathan Hoover.

Hoover kept Mona Shores in the contest in the second half and overtime with a pair of goals and an assist.

Christian Zurchauer put Mona Shores on the board after he connected on a pass from Hoover.

Hoover followed up with an unassisted goal with five minutes left in regulation. The goal came after Hoover sent the ball through the legs of a Union defender, dangled another defender and placed a shot in the upper corner of the net.

In overtime Hoover gave Mona Shores a 3-2 lead off a Grant Fortenbaucher assist.

Grand Rapids Union responded with a pair of goals in each overtime period, the last coming with one minute to play.

The two teams each had 10 shots on goal as Mona Shores goalie Eli Bowers made five saves.
