BAY CITY – The visiting Muskegon Community College womens basketball squad fought valiantly Monday afternoon but couldn’t hold back Delta College, falling to the Pioneers 76-60.

In the second half, the Jayhawks (5-2) battled back from a large deficit to within four points, 55-51, before the Pioneers (9-2) outscored the visitors 21-9 the rest of the way to win going away.

One huge part of MCC’s comeback was an outstanding effort by Grant High School grad Krystal Geers. Geers, who is averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds this season, scored that much in the second half as part of her game high 28-point performance. The sophomore guard also pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds and seven steals in the loss.

Taylor Brown, who is also from Grant, finished with 10 points and eight assists in the loss.
