Fruitport opens season with 55-46 victory over Ravenna

The Fruitport Trojans boys’ basketball team started the season on a high note Tuesday with a 55-46 non-league victory over Ravenna.

The Trojans, led by Matt Umstead’s 12 points and nine rebounds and Travis Grimm’s 12 points and seven rebounds, led 25-19 at halftime and 40-29 after three quarters.

Zack Garber had a near double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds for the Trojans and Shawn Knox added four assists and six steals.

Jacob Sied led Ravenna with 18 points, three steals and three rebounds. Alexander White had eight points and nine rebounds, while Austin Sied added eight points, three steals and three assists.
