Ludington’s Kalli Wahr scored 11 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter to help close a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit.

The Ludington girls basketball team used an outstanding fourth quarter to force overtime and then pull out a 52-49 victory over Reeths-Puffer in the Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame Classic Tournament Thursday at Mona Shores High School.

Ludington’s Kalli Wahr paced the comeback with 11 points in the fourth quarter, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer from 23-feet out to tie the score at 44. The junior forward finished with 21 points including five in overtime.

“We went for broke in the fourth quarter,” said Ludington coach Thad Shank. “We trapped everything we could and got very aggressive on the defensive end.”

The game was tied 16-16 at halftime. Reeths-Puffer seemed to take control with a 14-point advantage in the third quarter, but the Orioles matched that feat in the final quarter to force overtime.

The Rockets struggled through out the night at the free throw line making 7 of 28 asĀ Ludington outscored Reeths-Puffer 8-5 in OT.

“I was proud of how the girls never quit,” said Ludington Coach Thad Shank. “Being down by 14 in the fourth quarter is easy to hang your head on, but we fought back.”

High scorers for the Rockets were Camaryia Williams with 11 points and Ā Artrese and Kalisa Williams with 10.
