The United States Hockey League’s two-week Christmas break can’t come too soon for the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

After breaking a four-game losing streak last weekend, the Lumberjacks slipped back into their slump with a 3-1 loss to Indiana Friday at the Pan Am Pavilion in Indianapolis.

Indiana took an early lead with first-period goals by Joe Sullivan and Denis Smirnov. The hosts went up 3-0 midway through the second period with a goal from Tyler Andrew, who deflected a shot from the point off his chest.

Mason Jobst scored Muskegon’s only goal late in the game. It was his fourth tally of the season.

Indiana goalie Jason Pawloski stopped 29 of 30 Lumberjacks shots. Muskegon goalie Jordan Uhelski had 28 saves.

The Lumberjacks fell to 11-12-4 on the season. They will play their final game before the holiday break Saturday night in Chicago.
