The Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team split its pair of games over the weekend. The Jayhawks rolled past Alpena Community College 94-63 on Friday, but fell 86-84 to Schoolcraft College on Saturday.

Against Alpena, MCC erupted for 55 second-half points and was led by the tandem of Rashard Donely and Marquise Hatter. Donely shot 10-of-14 from the floor and finished with 23 points and Hatter followed with 22 points and six assists for MCC.

Tyiwan Jones drained five 3-pointers and finished with 18 points while A.J. Whittaker pulled down 12 rebounds.

The Jayhawks led 39-31 at the break.

Schoolcraft’s Terrence Coles was just too much for MCC to handle on Saturday. Coles finished with 43 points and 18 rebounds and helped overturn a 45-34 MCC halftime advantage.

MCC’s Jones did his part to spark the Jayhawks. He scored 31 points on 50 percent shooting. Donely finished with 18 points in the loss.
