Tristen Moore had 19 points and eight rebounds to propel the Shelby girls basketball team to its first win of the season, 42-36 over Fremont Wednesday in a non-league contest.

The Tigers won despite being outrebounded 31-22 and having 26 turnovers. Shelby improved to 1-2 on the season.

“We are making progress,” said Shelby Coach Sarah Wolting. “We overall handled the ball better but we are still gonna work on playing at our speed and taking care of the ball defensively.”

Chloe Sillman added eight points and four rebounds for the Tigers. Jozilyn Kinstner added three steals for the winners.

Hailey Lenske paced Fremont with 13 points.
