DEWITT – It sure looked like DeWitt had the edge over visiting Muskegon Heights Academy Saturday night, grapping a two point lead with a basket with less than 30 seconds remaining.

But the Panthers gave Heights senior Aaron Sydnor a window, however brief, to nail the game-winning shot with three seconds left on the clock to give the Tigers the 54-53 victory over the hosts.

The win helps the Tigers (2-1) bounce back from Tuesday’s four-point loss to Rockford.

DeWitt (2-2) held the 12-11 lead over the Tigers after one, but Heights led by four, 29-25, at the break.

The Panthers chisled the Tiger lead to two after three before the exciting fourth quarter.

Heights senior Eddie Tornes led all scorers with 19 points, and Sydnor finished with 17 in the victory.

Junior D’Monte Jones add seven for Heights.

Joshua Borta led the Panthers with 17 points.
