Spring Lake boys drop season opener in overtime

The Spring Lake boys basketball team opened up its season in exciting fashion Friday, going to overtime against Coopersville.

But the Lakers came up short in the extra session and dropped a 55-52 non-conference decision to the Broncos.

The game was tied 50-50 at the end of regulation, and Coopersville sealed the win with a 5-2 edge in overtime.

Joseph Dekkenga and Nathan Darcy 16 and 15 points, respectively, for Coopersville.

Spring Lake’s Nick Goeglein had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.  Zach Montgomery added 12 points for the Lakers.
