Western Michigan Christian scored just eight second-half points, but it was enough to hold off North Muskegon 29-27 in a nonleague girls basketball game.

WMC led 21-15 at the half and 25-23 heading into the final quarter.

“Our defense definitely won it for us,” first-year coach Glenn Karsten said after his first varsity win.  “I was pleased with our intensity and the way we communicated on defense.”

Anneliese DeKam led the Warriors with seven points and Lindsey Johnson chipped in with five. Jessica Knoll grabbed nine rebounds and Sarah Hughes had seven rebounds. Alyssa Wright dished out five assists.

Anna Osborn led NM with seven points and Abby Clark had five.
