Spring Lake graduate Annie Steinlage will continue her soccer career after a solid 2013 season at the University of Virginia. The Western New York Flash drafted Steinlage in the third round (27th overall) in the National Women’s Soccer League College Draft.

Steinlage continues her career after helping her Virginia squad to an ACC regular-season championship. She also posted a goal and six assists this past 2013 season and started in all 26 games at defense.

The Grand Haven native played her first three seasons at Michigan State and was an All-Big Ten choice for two of those seasons.

Western New York is part of the NWSL which has eight teams from around the U.S. The Flash finished at the top of the league in 2013.
