Jason Baird, who suffered a horrific landscaping accident in July, 2008, died on Friday at the age of 33.

Muskegon hockey fans may remember Baird as a tough hockey player who signed to play for the Lumberjacks starting with the 2008-09 season. However, a lawn tractor that he was operating the summer of July, 2008, exploded and he suffered severe burns over 60 percent of his body.

Baird died on Friday after complications from pancreatitis. Baird underwent numerous surgeries since his accident, which occurred in Ohio. That incident ended his seven-year minor professional hockey career.

He did make an appearance at a Lumberjacks game the following season.

Baird is survived by his wife Bethany along with sons Isaiah and Marcus and one daughter, Addison.
