The Holton Red Devil girls basketball team let one slip away Thursday night, dropping a 48-43 decision to Central States Activities Association rival Lakeview after a poor finish.
Trailing by three with two minutes left, Holton head coach Jayson Robins said his Red Devils proceeded to surrender two easy layups.
“We had our two worst defensive possessions of the game” during that stretch, said Robins, “allowing two easy layups. (We) couldn’t recover from those!”
Lakeview’s Sadie Massive finished with a game-high 19 points, while junior Rachel Younts finished with 16 points and six rebounds, with junior forward had 10 points and five steals, and junior guard Katie Wildfong added 10 points and five assists in the win.
