LANSING – The visiting Muskegon Community College Jayhawk mens basketball team dug itself a hole across the first half of Saturday afternoon’s showdown with Lansing Community College.

Then the Jayhawks spent the rest of the game trying to climb back into it.

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be, as  MCC fell by nine, 101-92.

Muskegon got a huge game from Tyiwan Jones (Lansing Eastern), who dropped in 40 points in the loss, shooting 13-22 from the field, including going 8-for-13 from behind the three-point arc, in the loss.

The Jayhawks struggled to hang on to the ball, turning over the ball 19 times to Lansing’s nine.

Three other Jayhawks scored in double figures, including Marquise Hatter (West Ottawa) with 13, and Chase Casebolt (Montague) and Turaen Conor (Kenwood High School (Chicago)) with 12 apiece.

Lansing was led by Tracy Edmond, while scored 29 points, with Nate Lafayette pouring in 27 points, and  Jeff Cain added 21 points in the win.
