The Muskegon Community College mens basketball team fell short on Wednesday night 66-62 to Lake Michigan College in Western Conference Action.

The Jayhawks had a 28-25 lead at the half before giving up 41 points in the second half.  “We had an 8 point lead (with 13 minutes left) in the second half that we let slip away.” stated coach Dave Schlump. “The key to the game is they had 18 offensive rebounds. Half of those occasions, they were able to convert to scores.”

Another key was turnovers as the Jayhawks had 16 to Lake Michigan’s 10.

Jake Anderson led the Jayhawks with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  Turean Connor had 12 points, while Marquies Hatter added 11 points.

“We played a good zone defense in the first half and we did a great job of it. They made adjustments at half time and they broke us down,” said Coach Schlump after the loss.

The loss evens up MCC’s record to 8-8 on the season and drops their record in the Western Conference to 0-2.
