Johnny Shafer put up some of his best numbers of the season in Mason County Central’s 75-59 win over Manistee on Saturday in boys basketball. Shafer scored a career high 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the effort.

MCC jumped out the gate with a 24-7 first quarter lead. Manistee fought back in the second quarter but MCC still held a 38-25 lead at the break.

Kody Ambrose fit into his game nicely for the Spartans with 18 points while Coltyn Tyndall put in nine points and had five assists.

“Ambrose played a really nice game and Tyndal is starting to come around also,” said MCC coach Jeff Tuka.
“Manistee is a team that fights every game. They hit seven 3’s and it was hard to pull away from them. But we had 10 players score tonight and we are really proud of Shaffer.”

The Spartans shot 16 of 21 from the free throw line on the night.
