North Muskegon advanced to the Class C girls district championship game on Friday night at Fennville with a 43-30 win over the hosts on Wednesday night.

The Norse will face Holland Black River in Friday’s title game at 6 p.m. at Fennville High School.

NM took a 17-8 first quarter lead as Abby Clark made three 3pointers and a field goal in the opening period.

North Muskegon took a 23-17 lead into halftime.

Fennville tried to stop the clock late in the final quarter, but hit some clutch free throws to seal the win.

“We started to take some time off the clock with about 6 minutes to go, lengthening our possessions,” said North Muskegon coach Doug Clark. “We did a good job on the boards limiting them to one shot.”

Abby Clark led North Muskegon with 19 points, five rebounds and six steals.

Keah Brown scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds and Anna Osborn had 10 rebounds and three assists.

“Our team, for the second game in a row, played very aggressively and were after every loose ball,” said Clark. “We need to carry that into Friday’s game against Holland Black River, as they are quick and aggressive going to the basket. Hopefully we have built a little momentum and can match Black River’s intensity.”
