Oakridge captured its third-straight West Michigan Conference girls basketball title with a 55-40 win at home over Mason County Central on Thursday. The Eagle’s handed the second place Spartans their second conference loss of the season and finished a perfect 14-0.

Senior guard Morgan Giddings led the charge for Oakridge (18-2, 14-0). Giddings dropped in 26 points for her last home game and walks away at  the top of the school’s career points total.

The Eagles defense went to work quickly and held MCC (13-6, 12-2) to single digit scoring in the first three quarters. Oakridge also held down the Spartan’s standout guard Madison Geers to just 11 points on the night.

Leading 31-16 by halftime, Oakridge never let MCC get into the contest.

Sam McGhan put in 12 points for Oakridge while Hannah Reinhold added six points. Cadence Chase scored five points as the Eagles had eight players score in the balanced effort.

Payton Bladzik, Makila Hodges, Kylie Mount and Rylee Tyndall each scored six points for MCC.
