Reeths-Puffer let Grandville slip through its hands for a 58-50 OK Black boys basketball loss on Wednesday. Free throws hurt the Rockets down the stretch.

Deandre Oaks-Owens scored a game-high 25 points and had five rebounds. Joey Olsen added 11 points and Jordan Cooley scored six points.

The Rockets led 13-8 after the first quarter, but fell behind 27-21 by halftime. The teams played even in the third quarter, but Grandville was able to take advantage of missed RP freethrows in the fourth.

“We were 2-of-6 from the free-throw line in the third quarter and had a 1-of-6 stretch in the fourth,” said Reeths-Puffer coach David Ingles. “So instead of being within one possession late, we’re down two and three possessions.”
