The Grand Haven Lady Buccaneer girls track team came away with its first dual meet victory of the season Tuesday by beating Holland West Ottawa 87-50.

Grand Haven swept the discus, pole vault and 100-meter dash events and won three of the four relays in the girls’ victory over West Ottawa.

In the boys dual meet, West Ottawa turned back Grand Haven 70.5-66.5. Brandt Gruizinga cleared 11-feet-six-inches in the pole vault to lead Grand Haven, now 0-2, to a three-place sweep in that event.

West Ottawa countered by sweeping the 800-meter run. Each team won two relays.

The victory evened the dual meet record for the Lady Buccaneers in the O-K Conference’s Red Division at 1-1.

Both Grand Haven teams return to action Thursday by hosting Grandville at 4:30 p.m. in Buccaneer Stadium.
